A little clarity

Questions, meet answers.

The important things to know before you make Lotus your own—written plainly, without the fog.

The essentials

Start here.

These are the questions that matter most when your digital life is becoming yours again.

What is Lotus?

Lotus is a calm workspace for your calendar, files, contacts, tasks, chats, groups, maps, notes, mail, wallet and more. The tools share one identity and are built around privacy, open standards and data you control.

Do I need an email address or password?

No. Lotus creates a cryptographic identity for you, or lets you use a Nostr identity you already have. There is no registration form, email verification or conventional password.

What is my private key, and why must I back it up?

Your private key is the secret that unlocks your identity and private data. Lotus cannot reset or recover it. Save a private backup, never share it, and consider using a signer so the key stays outside the website.

Can Lotus read my private data?

Private notes, files, events, contacts, tasks and messages are encrypted on your device before they leave it. Lotus and the relays carrying that encrypted data cannot read it. Anything you deliberately publish as public remains public on the Nostr network.

Where is my data stored?

Most content is encrypted on your device and published to the Nostr relays you use. Files are encrypted before being sent to file hosts. A small backend stores only what certain connected services and subscriptions need to work.

What is Nostr? Do I need to understand it first?

Nostr is an open protocol for identities and communication. It lets your identity work beyond one company or app. You do not need to understand the technical details to use Lotus—just keep your private key safe.

What is included for free?

The full everyday suite is free. A few creation features have a free limit: one Pay Page, form, booking page, extra calendar, extra account and live note, plus three wallet connections. Lotus Pro removes those limits.

How does Lotus Pro work?

Pro costs 9,99 € for a month or 99,99 € for a year. You pay upfront over Lightning or on-chain; nothing is charged automatically. If Pro ends, your data is not deleted—you simply return to the free creation limits.

Can I use Lotus on my phone?

Yes. Lotus is a responsive web app that works in modern mobile and desktop browsers. You can open the same identity on another device with your backed-up key or a compatible signer.

What is NadaNada inside Lotus?

NadaNada is an independent third-party service available through Lotus for buying privacy-focused VPN access, eSIM data and phone numbers with sats. Purchases are provided under NadaNada’s own terms; Lotus is the interface.

Can I leave Lotus and use my identity elsewhere?

Yes. Your identity is based on open standards, not a Lotus-only account. Keep your key and use it with compatible Nostr apps. Public content can travel with that identity; encrypted app data may require a compatible implementation to read.
